Financial Aid for Fall 2009

It is very important for all students who are planning on attending college for the 2009/2010 academic year apply for financial aid NOW!!!!!

The FAFSA website is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ .

When you apply for financial aid by filling out the FAFSA, you are applying for ALL of the FEDERAL and STATE grants funds available.

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission has notified the Financial Aid Office at John A. Logan College that due to high application volume, the state of Illinois is at risk of being out of money to fund the ILLINOIS STATE MAP Grant (which is the state grant that pays for tuition) by the end of May. Applications received after the end of May will be at risk of not being funded.

This only applies to the state MAP Grant NOT the federal PELL Grant.

2009-2010 financial aid processing

The Financial Aid Office has begun the processing of 2009-2010 paperwork. Students who have been admitted to John A. Logan College and have submitted the FAFSA with JALC as a school choice will be receiving financial aid packets from our office. Students should complete and return any requested information to the financial aid office. Once we have confirmed eligibility, an award letter will be sent out to the student. The JALC Financial Aid Award Letter will state the amount a student is eligible to receive in a Federal PELL Grant if the student is enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours). If a student is enrolled below full-time status, the award will be prorated down based on enrolled hours at the end of the two week drop/add period of the semester.
